📡 What’s a Tech Radar?
A Tech Radar, as described by ThoughtWorks, is a tool used to help technology teams assess and understand emerging technologies, techniques, platforms, and tools. It is structured as a circular visual representation divided into four quadrants and four concentric rings:
- Quadrants: These represent different domains of technology, such as Techniques, Tools, Platforms, and Languages & Frameworks.
- Rings: These indicate the maturity and level of adoption recommended for each technology:
- Adopt: Technologies that are recommended for use.
- Trial: Technologies worth pursuing but with caution.
- Assess: Technologies worth exploring with a clear understanding of the risks.
- Hold: Technologies that are not recommended for new projects.
🎯 Objectives
The Technical Radar should contribute to this bet by:
- giving more visibility to current innovation (and also current technical foundations)
- adding clear transitions with expectations between different steps of innovation
- increasing accountability of owners
